Cal Poly / UC Transfer AP Credits and Community College Courses

For an engineering major, I heard that some of the UCs, such as UCLA, and Cal Poly SLO does not follow the IGETC program very well. Also, I heard that the engineering majors require fewer general education courses and more courses that have to do with the major.

Wouild there be a point to take the AP exams or some community college classes if these classes have nothing to do with the engineering majors, such as civil or environmental?

If there is not a section to put on the applications your AP/ Subject tests, would there be any point in taking them?

Thanks.

Bump! Is there anyone who knows about this? Thanks.

You can go to the website of the various colleges of engineering and they will tell you what credit they will give for AP classes. Example http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/APCreditEN.htm
