<p>So, on Cal Poly’s website, I read that there is an Laes major. Is there anyone here that has done it or heard about it? Do you think it’s a bad idea to change to this major in search of an engineering job or do you think an engineering major is better?</p>
<p>Only an academic counselor can answer that question. My only concern is ABET accreditation. A program like that may not have it. There are other engineering majors at Cal Poly that do not have ABET accreditation by design, for example the General Engineering program. They wanted the flexibility to innovate without the constraints of accreditation. Best to check it out and see. If it were me, I’d go for an accredited engineering degree that is more marketable and then max out on the EC’s and electives in liberal arts courses that you enjoy. It really depends on what you are most happy doing.</p>
