Cal question concerning W's

Hey, I dropped a course at the very beginning of the semester that I originally told Berkeley I was taking. I never told them that I dropped it. Just now, after being accepted, I just sent out a letter explaining my situation (I dropped the course for a legitimate reason). The course was NOT a pre-req or anything related to my major. Will my admissions decision be revoked? Thanks.

.....................

good luck!!

Situation looks pretty bad for ya..
well the best thing you can do is to notify your admissions officer asap about your situation.. and try to make up some believable BS.

I am writing to inform you that I dropped the course entitled “Music 390H: American Film Music” during the course of this Spring 2007 semester. My reasons for doing so involved highly unfavorable scheduling hours – had I remained in this course, all five of my courses this semester would have met on the Monday, Wednesday, Friday block, one immediately after another with no breaks. I dropped this course within the first three weeks of the academic year before any grades had been recorded; academic difficulty did not play a role in my decision. I regrettably did not inform the admissions committee not because I wished to deceive you, but because, in all honesty, by the time I dropped it I had completely forgotten that I had even mentioned it on my application. This course is unrelated to my intended major, East Asian Studies, and I originally enrolled in it for nothing more than personal curiosity. I sincerely hope this does not jeopardize my standing at your university, which I am thrilled to be attending, all else equal, this coming fall. Thank you for your time and understanding.

How about that?

You have a good start, and a good finish, just tweak the middle.

I would say to omit words like 'regrettably' or 'forgot'... say something other than you just plumb forgot. If possible, just word that part differently. Say something like you did not realize.

when you say "this course is unrelated to my major..." say Fortunately, this course is.... so use positive language.

Otherwise, I'd say you're going to be okay, and they're not going to revoke your decision just because of a random class.

laneb, i read my term of conditions or whatever.

and i remember it said that if you dont complete 60 units = doom

However, if you complete the 60 units = safe, but you cant drop from a course that will fulfill the IGETC or L&S requirement. Also, if you drop a major course, then you can take it during the summer.

However, you cant take a course during the summer to fulfill 60 units.

with that in mind, i think you can count AP scores (i am not sure, best thing to do is call)

I believe i will have 55 units after dropping this course, but I have 6 APs that I should receive credit for. So I think I'm alright.

ap scores should count... call and then post the information here! cuz im interested in knowing lol or PM me when u get it!

lol chill, i dropped a course and replaced with another because my computer could not run the software required for the first course.

I doubt they care, it's not like you are tricking them or something
