Okay, so obviously this is happening all over the country.

But I just went to the Collegeboard website and noticed the recent change in acceptance rates of some schools I was thinking of applying to.

UC Berkeley dropped from 23% to 22%
UC LA dropped from 24% to 23%

and what I found surprising.. what I considered my backup,
Cal State SLO dropped from 45% to 34%!!!!!
That means it's harder to get into than UCSD! (42% acceptance rate)

I know the Cal State schools and the UC schools have different applicant pools, but Cal State SLO has more of the same applicants as the UCs.

This is kinda of worrisome to me.. what is your guys' input?

this has been a record year in regards to applicant numbers. Beyond the sheer increase in the volume of applicants they are becoming more qualified. The fact of the matter is getting a 2100 doesn’t mean what it used to. It’s going to be tough for everyone just do what you can to make yourself stand out.

The budget crisis is forcing California public universities to cap or limit enrollment, and California has a constantly growing number of applicants.

More people applying to the same number of spots… 2012 was pretty tough but 2013 is tougher cause more people are applying for the same schools. Its sad.
