Do people that attend Cal states have a good opportunity at getting accepted into a UC Medical school?

If you have the gpa+mcat scores, yes. But just know that admissions to UC Med schools is extremely hard: three of them are in the top 15 nationally, so they accept top scholars from across the nation (with the gpa+test scores to match). Much, much more difficult than most other state U’s.

If you really wanted to go to a UC medical school from a cal state would it be worthwhile to transfer to another 4-year to have a higher chance at getting in? I have heard from a lot of people that the UC schools are prejudice against cal state undergrad. Does anyone know if this is true?

In general yes, it’s true. Think about a 3.7/34 from Cal State LA and a 3/7/34 from UCLA. (Or same numbers from San Diego State and UCSD.) Which student’s gpa is the “more” competitive?

If you’re doing well at the Cal State, then stay there. The MCAT is also the great equalizer. It will “legitimize” your GPA, so to speak.
