Cal State Fullerton vs Community College

I had a 3.8 in high school and was really disappointed UCI didn't accept me. I didn't apply to enough schools because of the money, I probably would have made into the Cal poly SLO. I am waiting on appeals, but that doesn't matter right now.

I wanted to major in Engineering (aerospace), but if I go to Cal State Fullerton I might have to change it, but I have no clue to what.
My ultimate plan is to transfer to UCLA, but that is not a guarantee even at Community College and harder at CSUF.
Also is it possible to transfer out of Community College in one year or semester if you did well in high school?

Cal State Fullerton vs Community College

Go to CC. It's easier to transfer.

Why give up your dream? I'd say your best bet is to go to community college, work your butt off, and shine there. UCLA does accept transfers. I'd also suggest planning to apply to more than one school as a transfer; that way, if UCLA didn't come through, you'd have choices.

As a further suggestion, I advise talking to transfer counselors the minute you step on the community college campus. Make sure you know exactly what you need to do and exactly which courses you need. At the community college I (in my desultory way) take classes at, representatives from various California publics are on campus this week to talk to potential transfers. Check if they're at your community college, and if they are, go and talk to them.

You don't even need to work your butt off even. Most people that I know transferred to UCLA and UCB are average and they admit they are average. The system is set up so that you can transfer to UCs from CC easily. It also saves you tons of money.

I don't agree with Columbia_Student, you will need to work your butt off. But I think the community college route is the best for you.

It varies depend on the community college, but some are really easy to get straigth As if you are focused.

None of them are going to be "easy" to get straight As in engineering pre-reqs. He's going to have to take Calculus I, Calculus II, Calculus III, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and two or three (I don't know) semesters of physics for scientists and engineers. It's not easy to get As in those classes because it's not easy to learn that material.

I was almost already decided before asking the question of going to Community College.

So I am just hoping for a few more responses and if anyone knows if I can transfer in one year if I took 8 AP courses and 10 Ap tests (assuming I pass all).

You might be able to transfer in one year, especially if you take summer school. Questions like this should go on the UC Transfer board.
