CAL State Gpa includes Summer make-up classes or not?

Hey guys,

I have another question. So for when I calculate my cal state GPA, do I include summer classes that I took summer between 9and 10th grade and between 10th and 11th grade. Those 2 summer classes I took were repeats of the English class I failed in 9th grade. So not sure if this goes in. Any advice. This is what it says on official chart for UC’s and Cal State’s Gpa calculation:

Calculate GPA using all “a-g” approved courses completed during the summer after the 9th grade through summer after the 11th grade—excluding deficient grades which have been repeated.

I feel like my english are technically considered “a-g” but since they were originally 9th grade, they don’t count because of what it says at the end"excluding deficient grades which have been repeated."

please tell me your thoughts

You include your summer classes between 9th,10th and 11th grade. If they are makeup classes for D’s and F’s and you took the EXACT same class, you can replace your original grade with the repeat class grade. If did not repeat the exact class, then your original grade along with the repeat grade are included in the CSU GPA calculation using 10-11th grades including summer courses.

ok so does that mean I won’t use my summer course for calculating my cal state gpa because it’s a repeat of my 9th grade course and cal state only use 10-11th, although I retook the failed class in the summer before 10th grade?
