How good is Cal state Los Angeles’ computer science department?
If you want my honest opinion, most students do not even study. You should make a visit before you attend. The library is all packed on finals week and most, if not all, of my cs friends have open book tests. They scoff whenever I ask them if they have to study. They feel that calculus one to two are not crucial to their major and therefore trivialize these courses. Avoid if you can. Cal state la is a place where students take the easy way out, shrink their brain cells, ask for study guides for midterms and finals, and they even use chalk to write in the math department. Being here has shrunk my brain in half and most of the regions of my brain that were active have now been switched off.
One computer science major had the nerve to ask our professor what his ethnicity was. I thought that was pretty personal but that is strictly my opinion.
You will also find most students on campus to be antisocial and expect You to do all the work. They shirk and want to have fun instead.
Thank you so much, that helped a lot!
I’m not sure if this was meant to be a serious complaint, but it got a chuckle out of me simply because most UCD classrooms and lecture halls use chalkboards. That would include every math class I’ve taken here.
If it is a serious complaint, out of curiosity: What’s so bad about using chalkboards that it’s a detriment to the quality of the school as a whole?
To the OP, I don’t have personal experience with CSULA, but have only heard negative things about it. Take that for what it’s worth, which is honestly not much as someone who’s never lived in the area or anything.
Yeah so far I really haven’t heard any nice things toward CSULA as a whole. I’ve been hearing that it’s more about the location than the actual education.
