Cal State Northridge Admission Class of 2022

Have you checked your CSUN email? It might be there. Congrats!!

I still have not gotten an answer from CSUN, should I contact them??? I’m applying as an out of state freshman.

Nothing yet here either. Also out of state. Check your portal. That’s what I was told by admissions. On my son’s portal it says he has a hold because he’s applying for an impacted major. From what I understand they admit locals first then non locals. Admissions also said they usually don’t release any decisions until the spring. They have to let you know by April 1 so you can commit by May 1 to wherever you are going. Admissions will probably tell you what they told me. Also check your CSUN email. They’ve sent some sweet scholarship applications to my son for the school. Good luck!!

My D is In-State, non-local and is still waiting. When I called admissions some time ago, they told me they would finish releasing Tier 1 then move on to the rest of the tiers. He said Tier 1 covers the applicants with “local” status. He could not give me any firm dates but implied they are aiming to be done by the “beginning” of April (he could not give me date). My D is also applying for an impacted major. Our research tells us it’s a long shot even with a decent Eligibility Index simply because the “local” area for CSUN is so vast and the state of CA emphasizes that CSUs serve local populations where students have local obligations in addition to attending college. Personally I feel that the determination of “local” needs to be readdressed for all CSUs in conjunction with this priority. CSULA “local” is so small in comparison to CSUN. Perhaps there is a history I have not taken into account. None of which will help for Fall 2018. Best of luck to all

what would “impacted majors” be?

I’m a local applicant and applied to an impacted major am still waiting. No one from my school has really heard anything back.

@analuizaschuch I hope this link works, it should give you Cal State University impacted campuses and impacted majors information. Am using my phone and I’m not very savvy-you can google it as well

@KittenBri6 - when I spoke to admissions they were still working on Tier 1 and indicated it was an ongoing process.

Wishing everyone the best!

Current CSUN student here. I recommend staying on top of the matter because mistakes can happen. For example, last year they turned me down due to a computer glitch which thought I was tier 2. I live one block over from the school and have for ten years. They didn’t admit me until May and it was a hassle doing everything in a hurry due to that mistake on their end.

Make sure you have all of the golden four done (or in process for the current semester) if you are a transfer. They can be a real pain if those four are not completed in time.

@yandhow thank you! that’s a relief to know

ACCEPTED!

@SweetCaliforniaWeather-12 Congrats! were you local? What’s the major you applied for? & GPA? If you don’t mind sharing

@KittenBri6

Out-of-state and International (only for records)
CTVA Film Major (seems to be one of the impacted majors this year)
GPA : 3.5
SAT : 1000

I hope this helps!!

Anyone planning to go to CSUN if accepted?

@SweetCaliforniaWeather-12 thank you for sharing! I’m planning to go to csun if accepted but I heard they’re taking their time with applications

@KittenBri6 thank you for asking! That’s cool, I love knowing people who plan to attend that school, are you local? I heard it’s an excellent school for film. However, I plan to double major. We should create a thread for all the students who plan to attend csun so that we can look for roommates  I am still waiting to hear from other colleges then I will have to make my decision.

I hope you get in! Good luck

I think decisions are being posted in the portal. Go to the second tab “Home”. Scroll down and select, on the right side of the page, the “Solar Student Center” button. Scroll to the bottom of the page and look for the header “Admissions”. Under “My Applications” if there is a green check mark, I think that means you have been admitted. The whole portal will probably be updated soon to reflect this… and an email soon… then a regular mail letter. This is my best guess.

Wow, I don’t know how you found that but you are right. My son’s portal shows admitted. thanks for sharing that

@ Learnum Thank you so much for the step by step process. According to your steps my D is admitted. As of today, CSUN film is her first choice school. I believe my d is about to watch the Title 9 video as requested on her to do list. Maybe that is when the Admitted status will appear in the first tab (the one before the home tab) will update with Admitted. Wishing everyone the best

Curious if watching the Title 9 video will change the status on applicant page. Let us know!

@learnum thank you so much! I would have never found that! This is 3rd child going thru this process and maybe 25 college portals and this one has been the hardest to figure out! Daughter doesn’t know yet (ha sharing here first… but she was admitted!).

@learnum, thank you very much for valuable info!
