Hi everyone,
So I was accepted to Cal State San Marcos, Cal Poly Pomona, and Cal State Fullerton. I am majoring Finance and plan on using my degree to go into medical school. My concern is that I am not sure which college to choose. The reason I am majoring in Finance is because I want to one day start my own business whether it be related to the medical field or not I figured it would be beneficial regardless of what field I get into. I am just having trouble deciding which college to go to. I live in Temecula so San Marcos is a lot closer but Pomona has a great reputation and I would be getting a B.S. in Finance, Real Estate, and Law if I go there whereas I would be getting a B.A. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from San Marcos. I have pretty much ruled out Fullerton since I would rather attend Pomona than Fullerton. Which school is better? Does a B.A. and a B.S. really matter? Which school will give me a better education? And I know these are Cal State Schools but which one will offer a better college experience? I am also interested in joining an entrepreneurial club so which school has a better club in your opinion?
The letters in your degree don’t matter. You should look at the specific courses each offers in your intended major and see which is a better fit that way.
Would you live on campus or commute?
Without further details I’d say CPP but costs znd commuting/residential would matter more.
Okay I just wasn’t sure if a B.S. is viewed in a better light than a B.A.
I would be commuting which I know will cost a lot more but I would be looking at it as more of an investment especially if the degree from CPP will be more useful than the degree from Cal State San Marcos. I know that people say “it’s not the degree that matters it’s how you use it” but I am simply looking at the quality of education.
Can you live on campus at CPP?
Commuting to CPP will make things more difficult, especially because it’s much farther away.
San Marcos is more commuter than CPP.
Commuting to CPP from Temecula will very time consuming. We live near CPP and my son lives in the Temecula area while my husband has a job in the same area. On good days, you are looking at 60 min commute and on bad days (which are many) up to 2 hours. I agree that living on campus would be your best bet.
