Cal State System vs. University of California System

Alright since I am thinking very much that I want to work in the law enforcement field, either at the local or federal level, I was considering attending a CSU because they offer degrees specifically designed for law enforcement pursuers, such as Criminal Justice BA with a concentration in law enforcement. The only UC with a criminology degree is UCI, however, that degree isn't specifically designed for law enforcement pursuers. Therefore, would it make since to attend a CSU, or a UC. If I didn't get accepted to UCI, and I got accepted to UCSB, and chose to major in sociology, would that look as good as getting a degree in criminal justice itself? Ultimately, if I were to seek employment for example the US Marshals, would it matter if I had BA in Crmininal Justice, Sociology, or Sociology with a concentration or minor in criminal justice?

Have you checked with the Poly Sci dept at UCSB whether they have internshiips with any law enforcement agencies?

Not exactly, however, I want a heads up for training in law enforcement agencies, and some criminal justice degrees will do that. I dropped the idea of majoring in poly sci due to the fact that sociology degrees will better prepare me for a career in law enforcement.

this is a case where you’re going to find a lot more out by calling the US Marshal office and talking to someone who works in college recruiting.

Real quick question should I call my local US Marshal recruiting office?
