Cal State University Fullerton Fall 2017 Transfer

@mattmhs exactly! Being that roommate is the worst ever.

It really is ridiculous that may 15th is their deadline, especially knowing other CSU’s require admission deposit by the 1st. I’m a Kinesiology major and haven’t heard back. & I also haven’t called because the last time I did they shut me down quickly and said to check my portal :frowning:

  • I apologize for my bad grammar, I tend to not care whilst ranting....It's April and I am worried because I have not been accepted and CSUF is my #1 as well! Looking for support so I stop obsessively checking my portal 5x a day.

Submitted: October 22nd
Major: Business Economics
Non-local
GPA: 3.18 (after fall) 3.28 (after AD-T bump) 2.98 (when I applied)
Golden Four’s: 2 A’s, 2 B’s. Although one of the B’s was College Algebra and I got an A in Business Calc. Hoping that means something lol.
AD-T: Business Admin AND Economics. My CC told me I needed a Business Admin AD-T because they did not offer an Econ AD-T only later to find out they did after I had already submitted applications, so I think my Business Admin degree is being applied not my Economics one. CSUF was unclear when I explained what happened and other Cal States removed my AD-T from the application altogether… but since Business Economics is technically a Business Admin major, not Economics, I think I am fine and have the AD-T for my application.

Other schools I applied too:

Cal States:
San Diego (rejected)
San Francisco (accepted)
Sonoma (accepted)
Long Beach (accepted)
Cal Poly Pomona (accepted)
San Marcos (pending)
Chico (pending)

UC’s:
Davis (pending)
Santa Cruz (pending)
Santa Barbra (pending)

I am nervous I will not get in, but Business Economics is only offered at CSUF and CSULB. However, LB is an hour drive from me and make that +2 with morning LA traffic and driving back I would not make it to work. I am not trying to move out, pay rent and look for a new job to go to a school I do not really want to go to. I am debating Cal Poly because it is close but (1) I would be an Economics major (I have a Business Admin AD-T, University Studies-Bus & Technology Emphasis AA and I want to make use of the business classes I had to take) (2) I do not like the campus or area, I have lived in the I.E. forever and it would be nice to get away a little while still being able to live rent-free with my mom (3) Both my mom and sister attended there (which is a dumb reason to not want to attend, but it is a reason) (4) I am a business/econ major. CPP is a great school, but CSUF is better for my major. I am also debating a double major in applied mathematics when I transfer over.

My theory is that if I got into CSULB and CPP, then CSUF will most likely accept me, right? I know it depends partially on the applicants/impaction and my GPA is borderline with competitiveness for non-locals. It is already April 5th… Also to add more to my insanely large comment: the Waitlist box has been on my portal for a while, as well as the Orientation and Accept/Deny buttons.

Does anyone think I will get in? I am a good student. I did bad my first year and a half because I didn’t care, but I have had straight A’s since last Spring. I wish they looked over upwards trends. I am going to stop ranting now, someone pls make me feel better hahaha.

I called about the transcript. Even though I have an electronic receipt that they received it they say they do not have it. They are looking into it. They were quite helpful. However she did confirm transfer decisions will be done middle of May. Aghhhhhhhhhhh.

@homemadehitshow they have to be done May 15th because their deadline to accept admission/deposit is June 1st and I think they are required to give you at least two weeks! It is so frustrating…

This all so stupid. They should be required to post the decisions before the end of April

@fyascience I think actually the wording says you get two weeks to pay if your decision comes after May 15th, so if you get it May 31st you still get two weeks.

So there was a rep on campus today and I spoke with him. He said that transfers should hear back by May but he didn’t know a specific date in May.

@mattmhs Agreed! It really bugs me that they told you April 22nd and now they are telling everyone May, It’s like c’mon CSUF Reps. Giving people false information…not cool.

@fyascience Honestly I think you will get in, All of us are freaking out because they are taking so long and those buttons have appeared for all of us. But you got accepted pretty much everywhere you applied so i’m sure you have nothing to worry about  They are just agonizingly slow at sending out admissions decisions apparently. I only applied to 3 schools. I got waitlisted at one and withdrawn from the other so CSUF is possibly my only shot at a university. Wish me luck!! lol

@CSUADTHopeful good luck! Yeah, I applied everywhere because my counselors made it seem like I had the worst GPA ever and pretty much told me I needed to get all A’s if I wanted to go to a decent college! I completely freaked out and went overboard on the applications, although some were just wishful thinking. I really hope Fullerton takes mE!!! I feel like time is passing so slowly between trying to finish my last semester at community x waiting to hear back…

@fyascience It’s those temp position counselors that really over exaggerate, mine did the same with me. But considering I’ve paid for my entire college education by myself right out of high school and I have bills I just couldn’t afford to apply to more than 3 colleges at the time. Which I’m really regretting now because I wish I had more options now if Fullerton doesn’t accept me. & Sammmmeeeee! I feel like everyday goes by slower and slower and I check my portal at least 5 times a day now since we are in April already! Waiting kills!

@fyascience @CSUADTHopeful hahaha the temp counselors :)) my community college files were stacked so high, especially with 4 transcripts from other community colleges and CSU’s transferrring in to be used for AA’s and AD-T’s, they didn’t know what to do. That’s why I work with one perm counselor now at FCC. Due to my poor grades from over 20 years ago, completing the AD-T was the only way they said I would get in to a CSU again. I was supposed to have it finished this spring, but couldn’t fit it all in. I can complete it by end of summer, but don’t know if that counts.

@CSUADTHopeful I truly hope you get into CSUF. I was looking around at other CSU’s for your major, Kinesiology, and thought that by mere chance you don’t get in to CSUF *** but you will B-) *** that maybe you can enroll in an Online Program (just as a backup) at another CSU (such as CSU East Bay) temporarily and take some relevant courses until you can transfer into a program of your choosing. It has a rolling enrollment (Fall 2017 apps due in August). That is my backup if I don’t get into CSUF or CPP for Business Administration.

BTW - I’m with you at checking the portal at least 5 times a day, clicking all buttons just in case they miss something… I should change my UserID to CSUFPortalObsessed…

@TooOld4College Glad I made ya laugh lmao & Oh wow Yeaa seems like you had quite the handful of documentation to turn in, but that’s okay because it is their job to review and consider everything. Like I said It shows a lot about your character that you did go back to school and came back much stronger!! With your AD-T they really prefer that you have it done by end of Spring 2017 semester when enrolling in the Fall 2017 semester… but I’m sure if you indicated on your app that you won’t have it done until Summer 2017 you’re fine

Online program? Do I apply through CSU Mentor like every other school to do that? I feel like that could be a GREAT plan B! Thanks so much!! I just need to know how lol & I’ll be CSUFPortalObsessedII x)

@CSUADTHopeful Thanks! As for CSU East Bay, go to their site and look under Online Programs. It has specific instructions how to apply through CSU Mentor. I’ve already filled out the application, just haven’t sent it in yet until I get an answer from these yahoo’s in Administration & Records hahaha. CSU East Bay has a pretty good reputation for online programs in the CSU system. I didn’t see Kinesiology specifically in their online majors, but give it a look.

@TooOld4College Okay perfect! I will most definitely take a look and see if they have my online program  It’s a great alternative for both of us for sure!! Then I can reapply for Spring 2018 if I don’t get accepted this semester but fingers crossed we both get accepted this semester

I’ve been following this thread for a while and I finally got a response from CSUF this morning.
I got rejected :-<
I honestly didn’t think I would get rejected since my GPA is decent and my major is not impacted at all. Oh well…
Best of luck to all of you!

@TooOld4College Turns out only CSU San Marcos has the online Kinesiology program and it’s hybrid classes. I’m fine with moving to San Diego! I love that area lmao I like this plan B

@elssssss I’m so sorry to hear that :frowning: Did you apply anywhere else? & When did you apply for CSUF?

@CSUADTHopeful I applied to Long Beach, Northridge, and Fresno. So far I have been accepted to Northridge and Long Beach.
The reason they gave me for the rejection was that I didn’t meet the out-of-local area transfer GPA. I have a 3.6 GPA which is decent and my major is Linguistics. It makes me wonder what the out-of-local area GPA is…
I applied on October 11th.

@CSUADTHopeful Interesting, I’ll have to give CSUSM a look…

@elssssss Wow, I find that shocking, especially with your GPA. I’m excited for you that you were accepted to both CSUN and CSULB. According to calstate.edu, CSU Fullerton is impacted for all programs. But then again, so was CSULB. Good luck to you, as well!

@elssssss That is extremely odd considering your high GPA… But hey CSUN & CSULB are great schools!! Congrats! If you want to get away from the LA area, Long Beach is an amazing school and it’s next to the beach!
