I was accepted by UC Berkley (MCB major), UCLA (Biochemistry, UCSD (Bioengineering: Pre-med), UCI (Biological Sciences), and UCD (Bioengineering: Pre-med).

For UCI and UCD, though, I received the Regent’s Scholarship and Honors Program invitations (nothing for Cal, UCLA, or UCSD). My goal is to attend medical school and get an M.D., and I would like to know which school is the best to attend for undergrad education. Would it be better to attend UCI or UCD with Regent’s and Honors or Cal, UCLA, or UCSD without them (if I want to got to med school)?

hi, I am in a similar situation as you except with no difference in aid (no aid for me anywhere)...I am accepted to Cal, UCD and UCSD and I am having a hard time deciding...(i want to go to med school too)

If I was in your exact situation, this would be a no brainer for me...the regents and honors would win hands down. That would be the deciding factor - but I am not sure how much you received for regents at UCI or Davis.

I visited Davis last week and loved it. I also toured Cal and UCSD. I really liked UCSD alot - Cal - I liked the campus but the town was so-so...I live to close to UCI to want to go there...

I also got Regent's and the honors invite for UCD, and so I'm most likely going there over Cal. Davis is said to be a much better undergraduate experience than Cal, even without Regent's. The Honors program on top of that will make a much more intimate environment than you'd get by just going to Cal.

My friend is in a similar situation as you as a pre-med, but just sent his SIR to Davis.

If money is a consideration then go with one of the scholarships. If money is not a consideration go to the school you like the best. Any one of these schools is amazing. Cal has no med school though. Have you visited any of them yet?

cal- is for people who aspire to be successful in business, it doesn't even have a med school!
UCSD, UCLA, UCD, and UCI each have their own med school

beast master says: "The name recognition of Cal in combination of your diligence can get you in the top med schools."

Huh? Take a close look at how many students apply to certain schools and how many actually get admission. What the stats do not tell you is how of those students had to take a year off before reapplying to med school. This is a common occurrence among UCB premed students, especially if you are Asian. Unless you are a spectacular student at UCB, the name recognition will mean very little. There are just too many students applying to med school, and the competition is very stiff.

Competition will be stiff among those colleges you listed. Choose the university that you believe will offer you the most opportunities and provide the most resources, and visit the universities and see which one you will feel comfortable in. I advise you to also visit them during days when classes are in session, as their invitation days are not representative of the day to day university life.

don't go to UCLA cuz I'm goin there for pre med. Don't want more competition :)
On the bright side, if you survive Cal, you get to call your own shots.
