Cal vs. BU ($$$ vs. $)

<p>Hey CC,</p>

<p>I'm in a dilemma right now. I'm from MA so out of state for Berkeley and would be paying a LOT of money. Without loans and just gift aid, I'd be paying $40k at Berkeley and $25k at BU. I plan on majoring in CS. I was accepted into Berkeley EECS in CoE and BU CoE but I know Berkeley is much more prestigious and personally, I feel like the community at Berkeley is a better fit for myself. I also really want to go out of state and just experience something different. The problem is the $$$. </p>

<p>What do you guys think? Do you think it's worth taking out some fancy loans for a Cal education? Or should i Just stick with BU which is literally 30 minutes away from me and I might be able to get by without heavy loans?</p>

<p>That’s like an additional $45k loan if you go to Cal… To be honest, I don’t know… can you afford it? I feel like you REALLY want to go to Cal, but financial reasons are preventing you from doing so. Maybe talk to you parents? I just hate to see you regretting your decision of either going to BU or Cal b/c of financial reasons or in the end you hate Cal… </p>

<p>Maybe come to Cal Day this Saturday to see if that additional $45k loan is worth it.</p>
