<p>I took Calc 1 in about 5 weeks and got a B- should I take ity again in the fall? Or should I move on too Calc 2?</p>
<p>Calc 1 was hard as hell, but the reason I took it was to eliminate from my schedule, so for the fall I can only focus on Chem which seems like its gonna be a difficult class. I got the grade audited because I don't want to apply to an Engineering school with a B-.</p>
<p>It is important to have a solid foundation in Calculus, especially if you are taking more advanced math classes and majoring in Engineering. I passed the AP Calculus AB exam, but I decided to take Calculus I Fall semester.</p>
<p>If you had the grade audited, then you would have to retake Calc 1 for a grade included in your GPA, no? A B- isn’t terrible, but you may have no choice but to retake the course at this point. As stated above, you indeed need a solid foundation of understanding limits, differentiation, and integration before moving on.</p>
<p>I’m not a big fan of compressed courses as you don’t have enough time to absorb material well-enough before moving on to the next topic and there are oftentimes compromises made in cutting out material. Calc 2 should be an acceleration in difficulty from Calc 1. In college, courses accelerate in difficulty and the amount of material that you learn (at least in science and engineering) and I think that a lot of students are astonished at what they’ve learned and how fast they learned it after their first or second year.</p>
<p>If you take it again, you might also boost your GPA.</p>
