Admissions for Transfer Students, Undergraduate Program - Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley

Here are some big changes for Fall 2011 applicants, entering Haas in fall 2012. For those applying this year, there are no changes. But for those that graduated HS this year and are entering CCC this year hoping to transfer to Haas, here are the changes:

1) 2 semesters of Calculus
2) Breadth requirements no longer required for admission
3) No more literature/writing requirement

Ha! Old news my man. But yeah, itll be much more competitive now. Bad for you future apps, good for me.

I got that another Calc is added, and the Literature is dropped, but what classes do I take if the Breadth isn’t required for admission? The #1 reason people get denied is not satisfying the requirements, but now on the Hass website it says students are encouraged to spread out the Breadth over 4 years. I don’t want to hurt myself by completing the Breadth, and I don’t trust doing anything else. Nothing is posted anywhere… Please help!

how will it be more competitive for future apps?

By not making breadth mandatory, haas will have a bigger pool of qualified applicants which will push the avg gpa up. Right now if you don’t have breatdth fulfilled (which is quite extensive), you won’t even be considered even if you have a 4.0. So yeah this change will push haas into being more competitive than ucla’s bizecon, at least from a GPA standpoint imo.
