Calc 2 (MAC 2312) vs Calc 2 For AP Students (MAC 2512)

<p>I have to register for classes at preview next week and I am unsure which Calculus to take.</p>

<p>I am going to have credit for Calculus 1 because I got a 3 on the AP Calc AB exam last year, and likely got a 4 or 5 of the Calc BC test this year, so hypothetically I could even take Calc 3.</p>

<p>I have no intention of taking Calculus 1 at UF (heard it was a major weed-out course), but I am kinda hesitant to take Calc 2 because I heard it is mostly involving sequences and series, a topic that is not really my forte.</p>

<p>I am leaning towards MAC 2512 because they would spend some time on the Calculus 1 stuff I was better at, such as derivatives.</p>

<p>Basically, would any current UF students say MAC 2512 is easier than MAC 2312.</p>

<p>Any advice would be really appreciated.</p>

<p>I took MAC 2512 because I had the AP credit. I doubt either class is really harder, I think you start around integration by parts, then move on to sequences and series.</p>

<p>Since you are coming in from AP, might as well take 2512 unless you have a scheduling reason not to.</p>

<p>I was in the same position. I passed both AB and BC and went straight into MAC 2312. MAC 2512 is for people who have never seen BC stuff before. I didn’t find MAC 2312 hard at all. It definitely helped that I had passed BC though.</p>
