Hey guys AP calc AB student here wondering about possibly taking the BC test in may. The reason I thought of this is because our AB class is all ready done with the material the rest is just review (I've done very well in the class, high A) So I was wondering how feasible it would be to self study from now to the test (about 4 months) and take the BC test also, anyone done this before/have any suggestions?

You can’t take the AB test and the BC test since they’re administered at the same time. That said, you probably could self-study the BC material and take the BC exam. The primary difference between the two is some additional topics in the BC test and all the shared concepts are somewhat more difficult in BC.

You should study the BC material and take the BC test, especially since you’ll get an AB subscore along with your BC score. The subscore can be used like a score, so if you get a 2 on the BC part and a 5 on the AB part, you can get credit for your 5.

Plus, BC is fuuuuuuuuuuun.

If you’re pretty good at math / have good problem-solving skills + you’re disciplined to study the material + you’re not gonna be too busy, then sure, go ahead. It should take a total of 30-55 hours total to finish the BC material and do some practice exams. Get the PR review book, learn the BC topics well, and then do a lot of old AP frqs and MCs and you’ll be fine.

This is a guide I wrote that might help you:
