Ok, so Im a sophmore in high school, and eventually would like to apply to IVy League schools majoring in Neurobiology/biochemistry. I am currently taking Alg 2 honors. In my schpool, you need Calc AB to go onto BC. I am already taking all honors and three AP's and next year 5. I know I am supposed to go for the most challenging courses available to me to make it look good. So, should I take Pre calc ovre the Summer (I have friends who Have) so i can eventually take Calc BC?

Pre-Calc has a lot of fundamental stuff you’ll use in Calc, like Trig, Polar Coordinates, limits, etc. My friend took Pre-Calc over the summer, and she’s not doing well, but not doing horribly either in BC. Right now she has a high C, low B.

I took Alg II over the summer before sophomore year to bump myself up and I’m taking BC Calc as a junior right now. I’d say if you’re committed and can ground yourself in the foundations, you should be fine. You certainly seem capable since you’re pushing yourself with APs.

Yeah, I would take Pre-Calc over the Summer, and then AB Calc Junior year then BC senior year

How easily do you absorb and retain math? It’s going to be an accelerated course over the summer. If you’re okay with that, then go ahead, but if you think it’ll hurt your math grades down the line (and possibly impact other classes), then stay on track to take AB Calc and make no apologies for it.

I honestly do not love math, but I always manage A’s in my classes, all honors.

wel, my math classes i mean
