ok i m a sophmore, (going to be a junior)..and i wanna take both AP calc AB and BC, In my school they already teach calc BC in Senior year, but they dont teach AB, so i was thinking of self-studying AB this year, but then i heard that when u take Calc BC u get an AB subscore, so umm..if i just wait and take BC in Senior Year would that count as taking BOTH or not? (assuming everything is a 5)

O and also is there a point in taking BC in junior year and then taking AB in senior year?

AB is 2/3 of the curriculum of BC...so it really should be called AB and ABC. There is no point in taking both, ESPECIALLY AB after BC - that makes no sense at all. That's like saying you are going to take Calc before Pre-Cal.

No, there is no point of taking AB after taking BC. Getting a 5 on BC and a 5 on the AB subscore is essentially the same as taking both and getting a 5.

oh ok kool....so that means that when i take calc BC it counts as TWO AP's?

Not for any of the AP Scholar awards, but if a college were to give credit, it'd give more credit for BC than it would for AB. BC's college credit would (should) include that given to AB.

what kind of school offers BC but not AB?

Sorry, but that just seems sort of silly to me. If you self-study AB this year, I think BC will probably be a lot easier for you as a senior.

well they take Alg 2 in Sophomore year...Precal in junior year..and Cal in senior year..so yea..lol
