Is taking Calc BC in 10th grade average for MIT? (I got a 5 on the AP test)
I’m not really sure, and frankly, I don’t really care much since we don’t usually ask when we took a certain course in HS.
I will say though that a lot of my MIT classmates, for the most part, took either 18.02 or 18.03 (or a variant) their first semester, meaning that they took Calc BC or the equivalent in HS. Some take 18.01, and a few bright students I know take whatever grad-level courses they’re interested in in their first semester. I took BC in 11th grade (5 on AP test) and 18.022 first semester.
Edit: 18.02 is multi-variable calculus, 18.03 is diff eq., and 18.01 is single-variable calculus.
Thanks
