calc I vs Calc II

I was just wondering if in a sense it would easier to take Calc II instead of Calc I because I assume there would be less people taking it which would mean less competition? My friend who is headed of to Wharton talked to me about how the Calc I curve was ridiculous over there because a lot of people who should be in Calc II took Calc I as an easy way out. Does something similar apply to NYU? I hope this question made sense

I personally am taking Calc I, even though I already took it in high school, because my teacher skipped a couple topics (that I had to learn on my own for the AP, which I bombed )and I’m afraid I won’t be ready for Calc II since there is no review of the materials. I think what is “easier” really depends on how well prepared you feel for the material as opposed to how many people are taking the class.

save for a few people, everyone in Calc I took AB and/or BC in HS, and did well on the AP. The curve isnt horrible, but everyone performs well, since everyone already took it earlier. I went with calc II, and although my GPA suffered because of it, I think I developed better study habits, and it was worth the information I had learned. I didnt take BC in HS, and will be taking Calc III next semester.
