Calc

I know this is kind of soon to be thinking about, but I have a meeting with my guidence counselor tom to get my PSAT scores, and I wanted to talk to him about taking Calc this summer, so I could take Calc 2, and 3 next year (my senior year) at my local University (U. Maine). I've talked to some of my friends about it, but they didn't think it was such a good idea because my school has a really good AP calc course (almost everyone gets 5s on the exam), and one of them is currently taking Calc 2 at U Maine (she took AP her Junior year), and she said most of it has been review, she goes to one or two classes a week and is pulling off a 99). I think it would definatley look better when I go to apply for college, but then again I'm a good half an hour (doing about 80 on the interstate) away from U. Maine and I don't know if I want to drive that far 4 days a week. Well I've rambled enough I guess; I guess I just wanted some reassurance that it would be a good idea. Oh btw I'm not worried about not be able to grasp the material...I'm getting a 100 in Pre-Calc right now, and have't done a hw assignment yet (thankfully she doesn't grade hw, just tests, and quizes)

If you're doing really well in pre-calculus and mastered literally everything in algebra 1, 2, geometry, and trigonometry, then you're all set for calculus. It does look better on college apps that you did college classes, and it helps to have taken calc. Good luck! ^_^

from students at my school, i heard CAlc 1 is hard as hell. but if you are good in math and want to pursue in math in your future, go for it. but do remember, colleges just don't look at your classes. also, take into consideration if driving to U of maine is worth it. what do you want to do as your major? does it require all that math? if you want to do something like english or psych, per se, doing calc 3+ wouldn't really matter on your transcript for college admissions... but do what you want, and what is best for you. good luck:)

Thanks you guys. I think I'm going to because 1) I want too, and 2) I'm going to major in engineering so I'll have to take them anyways. I realize they look at more then classes too, but I want something that might set me a part from the other person. Thanks again you guys.
