calculating gpa

hi
I'd like to know how to calculate the GPA. my school counsellor simply coverts the percentages into a fractions and multiplies them by 4 but I've known some people who have more than 4. How is this possible? And how should the unweighted GPA's be converted into the weighted one's (my school has no such system). plus, i want to know whether the GPA to be written in your forms is for my A-levels or for my School Coursework? thanx in advance.

honestly, i'm not sure how to calculate GPA, but I know that it's based on your schoolwork, not a-levels (you're from the uk, i'm assuming?). those are the equivalent of our AP classes, and while our grades in the classes themselves do count towards our GPA's, our grades on the actual AP exams don't.

gee thanx.. i'm from pakistan.

sorry! i thought a-levels were limited to the UK. my mistake.
