Calculating UCLA GPA

How does one calculate their UC GPA if their classes are both numeric and letter grades? All AP classes are letter grades, and advanced, or accelerated are numeric. Normal level classes are numeric as well.

How can I transfer the numbers in the accelerated classes and normal level classes to points for calculating my GPA?

thats pretty weird. harahr.

any ideas?

sophomore, junior, and 1st semester senior grades...

4 = A
3 = B
2 = C
1 = D
0 = E/F

+1 for AP/Honors/IB/Magnet classses.. (unless u get an E/F)

There is a cap of 8 points you can add for AP/honors/IB. Also, first semester senior grades do not count in the UC GPA.

i dont think theres a cap for AP/Honors/IB..
theres just a max. of the GPA set at 4.3 or something like that

What numbers are included in an A?

90+ = 4?

90-100 = A = 4.0 (unweighted)
80-89 = B = 3.0 (unweighted)
70-79 = C = 2.0 (unweighted)
60-69 = D = 1.0 (unweighted)
<= 59 = F = 0.0 (unweighted)

I think the cap is 4.5.

Some schools use the cap, some use uncapped, and some use both. I'm not sure what UCLA does though.

UCLA uses an 8 honor semester capped system. You can achieve a 4.5 if you take 4 semesters of 5 classes with 8 total semesters in 10th and 11th grades.

Actually, I'd bet they look at both, because there's statistics on their site for both average capped and uncapped gpa.

they use 10-11 acedemic classes (aka, no PE)

and you add 1 point for each AP/honors semester, but you cant exceed 8 points of AP/honor boost

in short, refer to "gospy"

is there really a 8 point ap/honor cap?

8 SEMESTERS... aka four (4) year-long AP/honors classes

8 semesters max is TRUE. Also, senior grades do not count at all. (First semester senior grades at my school aren't out until mid-Feb, so it would be impossible anyways)
