Calculating UMich GPA

<p>Hello, </p>

<p>Just some questions to see if I'm calculating my UMich GPA correctly.</p>

<p>I took a course at a community college during the summer between
9th and 10th grade. Does UMich consider that course as part
of 10th grade or 9th grade? (important because UMich only considers 10th & 11th GPA)</p>

<p>Also, I noticed that UMich. does not consider non-academic classes such
as PE and Health when calculating its GPA.
Does UMich. also consider Marching band and Symphonic band as
"non-academic" courses?</p>

<p>It's probably on a seperate transcript than your HS ones, that's my best guess.</p>

<p>Orchestra and Band are not academic classes, therefore they aren't counted. I'm like 98% sure of that.</p>

<p>I'm with Cvjn -- I'm 99.999999999999% sure band does not count. </p>

<p>And if I had to guess, I don't think your CC classes count in your GPA because they don't show up on your high school transcrips.</p>

<p>I’m going to bump this because there seems to be a lot of questions on this…or at least I do. </p>

<p>Do classes like Astronomy, Tech. Drawing (required Architectural Drawing), and Social Science Intel (national research competition) count towards the recalculated GPA? </p>

<p>Once UM recalculates the GPA, they only look at that or do they still look at the other courses on our transcripts? Also does the UM GPA apply for all applicants or only applicants out of state?</p>
