Hello,

Basically, I need quick help with calculating GPA.
What would 2 Bs make my CUMMULATIVE UW GPA be?

Also, how would that affect my chances at HYPS seeing that I got these 2 Bs my Junior year? ><

Thank you!

Basically, I need quick help with calculating GPA.

At my school, a B would be an equivalent of 3.1. But maybe it’s different for yours.

All As are 4 and Bs are 3 add up all the As and Bs then divide by total amount. Ex. 3 A and 1 B = (4 +4+4+3)/4 =15/4=3.75 uw gpa

obviously your cumulative UW GPA encompasses all of your grades in h.s. from freshman year onward. So you can’t really calculate your UW GPA with just two classes.

To calculate your UW GPA do the following:

example: You have taken 30 classes since freshman year…15 were A/A+, 10 were A-, 3 were B+, and 2 were B. Therefore your UW GPA would be: (154+103.7+33.3+23) / (30) = 3.76.

To calculate your weighted GPA you would just change the points assigned from #1 for each honors & AP class based on how your school assigns weights…for example they might say that an A+/A in an honors course counts for 4.5 instead of 4.0 and for an AP class it counts for 5.0.

Getting a few individual B grades won’t impact you too much for HYPS, what matters is that you have a high cumulative GPA and are ranked in at least the top 10% of your class.

The grades need to be multiplied by the number of credits each class is worth (for instance a 1/2 year class may only be worth 1/2 credit). Then divide by the total number of credits earned.
