Ida, no, those are HS examples I was using in talking about my DD's GPA. Most courses meet 5x per week and count as 5 credits, but there are exceptions, like the bio and computer class. There are also some sort of club classes that meet before or after school less than 5x per week and they don't count as high as the regular 5x per week classes.

I got this from a website for apps:

you will need to calculate your GPA using the following table:

4.0 93-100 A or A+

3.7 90-92 A-

3.3 87-89 B+

3.0 83-86 B

2.7 80-82 B-

2.3 77-79 C+

2.0 73-76 C

1.7 70-72 C-

1.3 67-69 D+

1.0 63-66 D

To use this table, find the GPA value of your final grade in a class (for example, a B+ is a 3.3) and multiply it by the total number of units the class is worth (for a five unit class, multiply 5 x 3.3). Do this for each of your courses in grades 9-12, adding the GPAs as you go. Then, divide by the total number of units you have taken. For example, if you have taken only three classes (unlikely, we know!), each worth five units, and you have received an A, B+, and A-, calculate your GPA as follows:

(5 x 4.0) + (5 x 3.3) + (5 x 3.7) = 55, 55/15 =3.67, or a 3.7 GPA (you can round to the nearest tenth for this application, though many applications do not allow you to round up, so please be aware of this in the future).

I have 92.993 GRADE POINTS. what would that yield me on 4 pt scale?

alright, i looked at Duke's admission page and from what i read they look at the transcript to determine what they like......aka: they don't recalculate!
a 92/100 does not translate into anything!

Hold on - do you calculate your GPA based on your year-end grades or each semester's grades? Because that would make a difference, for me at least. I've always thought it was the year-end grade, but...?

Oh, and does each school have its own way of calculating GPAs? I know that between freshman year and junior year our method changed due to a change in the grading scale. Is this true for all school?
