So, out of curiosity i was wondering if there are any websites etc. that can calculate you GPA for you. Or any way of doing so. Coming from Australia where we only get percentages and letter grades, i have no idea what my GPA would be. Thanks in Advance.
Oh, and if someone could calculate it for me (not sure how though?) my last set of grades were:
A
A
A
A
A+
A+
A+
B+
B+
these arn't my Yearly grades, just the one from a six week marking period my school has...

A =4
A+ = 4 or 4.33 depending on what school one goes to
B+ = 3 or 3.33, same as above
In my school that would be 34/9 = 3.77.
According to others, that would be 3.96.

Ahh, thanks.

3.96, with whatever grades you gave us (weighted or unweighted - the A+'s are probably weighted since 94-100 is A, can't say about the others)

see, my school classifies an A+ as a 90-100, A as 80-89 and B as 75 to 79. I thinks its a bits inflated,but being in a different country you never know.
Thanks anyway.

A+ is usually more like at least 95 or higher, and B is more like what you said A was.

At least at my school.

In my school it goes A = 90-100, B = 80-89, C = 70-79.

Yeah...really inflated.. lol.

claudia: bearing in mind the scale you posted, I calculated it at about 3, but its probably a little lower than that. Unweighted, of course.

A+, A , A- = 4 points
B+, B , B- = 3 points
C+, C , C- = 2 points
D+, D , D- = 1 point
F+, F, F- = 0 points

Now if you are taking lets say an AP course then they are inflated

A = 6 points
B = 5 points
C = 4 points
D = 1 point
F = 0 points
(d'' and F's don't get inflated)

So average out what grade you got for each class for the whole year, it would look something like this(if you took 6 classes this year):

AP Chem (A-)
Economics (B+)
English (B-)
History(A)
Spanish(A)
Pre-Calc(A)

6 + 3 + 3 + 4 + 4 + 4 / 6 = 4.0 gpa(then take your gpa from each year of high school, and average them out.

That's how it works here in the states, depending on weighted/unweighted gpa, when you apply for college they will see your weighted gpa and unweighted gpa. They may not even look at the weighted. So it's better to take moderately challenging classes while maintaining a good gpa 3.4+ unweighted, then taking 6 ap's and having a 3.0 unweighted. Unless you plan on going to an IVY League school.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

I thought it was more common to weight advanced classes as 5.0, not six.

Thansk everyone, i wasnt so much worried about the GPA in relation to when i apply to colleges in the US, it was more out of intrest. BTW, mostly those A+ are with percentages of 98/99...dont know if that counts...

Good website for calculation.

Claudia, aren't you in eighth grade?

I'd say your GPA is around a 3.0/4.0 on the average american scale.
