Calculator for Biochemistry?

What kind of graphing calculator should I get for biochemistry courses? I have to do up Calc 3 and Physic 1&2(Calc based). Should I just get the TI-84 or 89? I would rather make a good investment since these aren't cheap.

Thank you!

I don’t think I ever needed a graphing calculator for biochemistry courses, and in my science classes, we weren’t allowed to use graphing calculators (we could only use non-programmable scientific calculators).

If it helps, I was a biochemistry major, and I used the TI-83+ I’ve had since middle school and never needed anything else.

I can’t think of anything that would require a graphing calculator. Michaelis-Menten problems can be done with a normal scientific calculator. I wouldn’t buy anything unless your professors for your courses say you need a special calculator.

I never had to use anything beyond a scientific calculator when I took biochemistry. My professor had been mainly concerned with whether we knew the pathways forwards and backwards or not, and for problems that did deal with some math (such as “counting ATPs”), it was all basic arithmetics. If you’re really good at mental math, you can pretty much do all the arithmetics for biochemistry without needing to use a calculator at all.
