Hi, I just lost my calculator in time for finals. :( I'm about to buy a new one, probably the TI-83 Plus Silver Edition. I figured that I might need a new one for college next year anyway, so it's not that big of a deal. Does anyone know if that calculator is allowed by most engineering programs? I'm sure it's fine, I just don't want to waste money on a calculator that I won't be able to use for too long. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

i think a Ti-89 would be better, it's a lot more powerful than the 83 =)

I heard that HP calculators were a lot better than TI calculators in college level math and engineering, but you would have to ask someone that's in the engineering program at Stanford.

If you are going into math/cs/engineering you should probably get Ti-89.

yeah, if you're getting a new calculator get the ti-89 titanium--it's a totally different world, but you'll grow into it, and now's a good time to start learning its nuances

don't get the 83, 83p, or 83pse--get the 84 plus silver if you're going to stick with TI's more middle school/high schoool-friendly series
