Calculator Use in Math Class?

Are calculators allowed, discouraged, or prohibited in UF Math classes? Does it depend on the instructor or are there guidelines for the different levels?

Depends on the instructor. In general, no. If you are a math major, there are plenty of courses where it won't help at all (for proof based courses).

What about calc 1 and 2? can we use a claculator in those classes?

You cant use a calculator. At least in the calc classes I have taken (calc 1&2). I heard from friend she couldn't use one in calc 3. Also precal doesn't use calculators either, from what I hear.

I couldn't use one for calc2, but my calc3 professor didn't care (not that we needed one, lol).

You can't use one for MAC1147 [Pre-Cal] either.

How slack is UF on letting you take MAC2311 if you havent take MAC1140 or higer. I missed placing out of it by 1 question on my placement test and I alreadt took precal in my senior year.

They are trained to advise you not to take it, but they don't care. Just add it on ISIS and if there is a hold, just email or visit a adviser to remove it.

Well I have MAC2311 down for fall on my schedule on ISIS and nothing is stopping me (no hold or anything) so I just wanna make sure that when fall time comes around nothing happens. For summer I have MAC1147 (which may be why I am ok for MAC2311 for fall) but I am going to change it to MAC1114 (trig) so will that affect anything? And if I change my summer schedule will the class schedules offered still be the same as they are in the catalog they gave us at preview?
