Hello, I recently got a 4 on my AP Calculus AB exam and I am going to De Anza College. I was wondering, how many college credits I will be getting? Also, on the De Anza website for the math pathways (https://www.deanza.edu/studentsuccess/mstrc/mathseq/tbus.html), I saw that I can also skip Math 12 (Business Calculus) in addition to Math 1A (Calculus I). Math 12 is a requirement for my major. Will I get credit for Math 12 as well, or do I only get credit for Math 1A? I was hoping that I get credit for Math 12 and not have to take it, as the schedules for that class aren’t good. Thanks!
each college has their own was of assigning for AP credit. I’d suggest you check with your target school directly.
I think you’ll only get credit for one class.
I got it
You need to check the AP credit chart for the schools you want to transfer to in order to find out how many credit units you will get and what courses you will be exempt from in their transfer preparation requirements.
Here are general UC policies on AP credit:

Here are general CSU policies on AP credit:

For specific campuses and majors, check articulation pages on http://www.assist.org and on college web sites to see what requirements you will be exempt from (usually first semester or quarter of calculus).
You would not get double credit for regular calculus and business calculus, but business major programs typically accept either, since regular calculus is generally a more difficult course.
