Can you get into the Georgia Tech School of Engineering if you have taken Calculus AB (instead of BC) in high school? I am an instate girl, top 5% class rank, 10 aps, 2180 old SAT, varsity athlete, NHS officer, etc. Do you think AB will be a deal breaker for me? Thanks!
Yes to the first question. No to the second. 95% of the admitted students have taken AP Calculus. They didn’t specify whether it was AB or BC. As long as you did well in the class, you should be fine.
Thanks for you reply. I am aware of the 95% Calc stat, but I didn’t know if AB would be a deal breaker for Engineering specifically.
@gleeberduck If you are too concerned, you can always ask the GT counselors . They provide great help.
My DD only took AB and was admitted. She has done well in her math courses at Tech. GT admission counselors have told me they basically require calculus and do not care at what level it is as long as they have taken calculus. My DD scored high enough on the AP exam to opt-out of Cal 1 (as it was then known) at GT.
Best advice, apply early action!!
