Calculus and Ross Business

So AP credit came in today and found out I got credit for Econ 101x, Stat 101x, and Calc 120. I thought even with AP credit I would have to take calculus at Michigan for the Ross application. I checked online today and was happily surprised when I found out the AP credit fulfills the Calc requirement.

Since I have that credit, I don't ever have to take Calculus again right? Even for finance, I checked the prereqs online and Calc 2 wasn't in any of them (is this correct?).

I didn't mind Calc really but I hear at Michigan it's quite a time-sink and GPA hurter. Second semester I'd rather take Econ 102 and maybe another Econ class. If I ended up not getting into Ross, for an Econ major I still don't 'need' Calc 2, right?

I checked for Econ 401 and an enforced prerequisite is MATH 115, 116, 121, 156, 175, 176, 185, 186, 215, 295, or 296.

Since I only got credit for Math 120, does that mean I have to take a Math class or does 120=115?

Found the answer:
8. I want to enroll in Econ 401, but Wolverine Access won’t allow me to do so. It says I don’t satisfy the prerequisites. I took calculus in high school, and I received U-M credit for Math 120.

Math 120, the credit awarded for success on the AP Calculus AB exam, does not satisfy the math prerequisite for the economics major, for the economics minor, or for Econ 401. The department makes no exceptions. Math 121, the credit awarded for success on the AP Calculus BC exam, does satisfy the math prerequisite for the economics major, for the economics minor, and for Econ 401

****…

If you work moderately hard I believe you would do fine in Calc 1. I didn’t take any in HS (AP or regular), and found it pretty straightforward. It isn’t easy by any means but its doable.

If you want to apply to Ross, you want to make sure to take some quantitatively challenging courses. Calc 1 could be a good one to take seeing as you would also be able to take Econ 401 in the future pending on your plans after freshman year.

I also took Calc 2. It was awful, but I’m glad I took it. Its the lowest grade I’ve received at school and oddly my proudest. If you can handle calc 2 (and you’re better equipped than I was), econ 401 is very manageable.

I’ll be a sophomore in the fall, and did the same thing as you. Got credit for AP Calc in high school, and i didn’t take any calc at UM my freshmen year. You still have to take Econ though. you get the credit, but it doesn’t pass you out.

I took Stats 250 (super easy), used my Calc credit, and got into Ross.

Keep in mind this isn’t exactly the normal route, but Ross is possible with no UM Calc.
