Hi I am international student who want to major in either mechanic engineer or chemical engineer.
Right now I am taking AP calculus class. The school only provided AP cal AB before and this is first year to have AP calculus BC. I think I already signed up for AP calculus BC. However, our class just started to learn applying integral derivatives. I started to concern about test. I would like to finish all the concept by end of the march and preparing for test in april, but it seems hard to happen. I am three choice for this problem. Based on you experience or others please tell me what you would choose.
1.I am actually thinking about studying at home additionally to master the concepts by march and prepare for test in april
2. Have expert tutor to help me learn the concepts and prepare for test. This choice is expensive. 100 dollars for 2hour
3. Change APcalculus BC to AP calculus AB
- if you choose this choice, is there any benefit if you pass AP calculus bc then major in engineering in college classes
Can you work on your own, delineate the issues you need help with, and hire the tutor just for those notions so that it’s not too expensive?
What class would you take next year - is dual enrollment in a community college for Calculus 2-3 possible?
If not, then switch to AB this year and take BC next year… although you might encounter the same problem.
I was thinking about taking AP stat for next year. But the problem is my school is very small that we only have one teacher who never taught stat before. He says he will teach it…but I am not sure. Tbh he does not teach very well. Do you think I can get 4~5 score, if I study crazy hard by myself now on?
It’s better to take AB then BC, than partial bc that you don’t properly study and get a poor score in (because it sounds like you’re doing calculus about now, not bc) then stats. Ask your math teacher whether he’d consider offering bc again next year for students who took the class this year and consider this class about or calculus 1.
Ok I will ask him about it and change ap test to ab. Thank you so much!!!
My son and I both found the Princeton Review book for AP Calculus to be very good for self-studying.
Thank you for replies!! I am now gonna take calculus ab.
