I just recieved my AP scores and I made a 1 on the calculus ap test both BC and AB. I made a B both semesters and high school, and scored a 690 on my Math Level 1 and 2, giving me the calc readiness requirement.

Currently i am in Engineering, so i am taking M 408C. Should i move down to M 408K?

Also, im currently signed up for professor TRIESMAN because he offers so much extra cred, but was debating on going to GONZALES because he has a higher overall rating on ratemyprofessor. Any advice on prof? Someone else?

Generally engineering students take the C/D course sequence, since it has more emphasis on application and you cover more topics with less depth.

Engineers usually take the C/D route like Y2K stated. Free response vs mult choice based in K/L/M.

And while we’re talking about Calculus, how is M 408M? I currently have Leucke, which from the reviews I’ve read that he is pretty good.

csekhon02, the College of Natural Science now uses the ALEKS test to determine calculus readiness. Check out this link for more details:

Also, remember that calculus at UT is REALLY hard. If you got a 1 on the AP test, then maybe calculus isn’t for you as it could really destroy your GPA.

My ds had Dr. Gonzalez for both 408c and d. He is an excellent teacher and usually very hard to get. He is rather soft spoken, so sit near the front!

If you got a 1 on your AP Calc test, you might wanna reconsider your major- Engineering places heavy emphasis on Calc

Thank you everyone for your responses. Im not worried about not surviving calculus. If i apply myself hard enough i know ill get what i want. i have also signed for the GE class for calc twice a week. so i already have calculus tutoring lol 408C should be fine for me right? and if i feel like i cant handle 408C, i can drop to K after a couple of weeks right?

how is Triesmann as a professor?

I am currently registered for Prof. Davis. Is she a good professor?

Triesman is alright according to ratemyprofessor.com

Davis told us her average test scores when I was at orientation and they are pretty much A’s except on the test about logs, exponentials, and trig. The Math department highly suggests using the ALEKS learning modules to study logs, exp, and trig so that students will stop making low test grades for that unit.

thanks! i guess im sticking with triesman. Triesman gives a lot of Ex Cred, but gonzales had a better overall review. 4.3 out of 5. pretty high
