Calculus Free Response Grading Question

On the AB test, if there is a question about a particular solution to a differential equation and I mess up near the beginning but carry it all the way to the end (solving for the constant and everything) but my final answer is wrong because I screwed up at the beginning, do I still lose all the points?

no you don’t. there are discrete guidelines in giving points and errors carried over are ignored if you did the process right but on the other hand, that error can cause you to deviate from the scoring guideline points assigned since the problem will be a lot different than if you did it right. You won’t get the last point for correct answer either

For example, on last year’s differential equation, the guidelines were:

1 : separation of variables
1 : antiderivatives
1 : constant of integration
1 : uses initial condition
1 : solves for W

I separated my variables wrongly. Thus, my antiderivatives, constant of integration, and final answer were wrong. But I went through the process and ended up with a square root function instead of a natural log function. I still attempted to separate variables, integrate, solve for C, etc.

How much credit do you think I would get?
