For the past 2 months now I have been wrangling with this decision. At my school we have until the end of the year to turn in our schedules. I am going to be a senior next year. Right now I am in Trig/Analyt and got a B first semester, and I have an A this semester. Math is definitely not my top subject. A lot of students who are average at math are taking AP stats at my school, and I am currently signed up for Calc. So my question is, will taking Calculus look better even if it is only honors? My school also offers AB and BC and I have flirted with the idea of AB, but I am definitely not ready for it. So does anyone have any advice?

Take Calc. It is MUCH more useful than stats, and looks much better. Maybe you could study over the summer to take AB or BC, which would look even better.

What do you not learn in Honors Calculus that you would in AB? Can’t get much more basic than the latter without it not being calculus.

Calc.
I would think that honors would move at a slower pace than Calc AB (or at least that is what happens at my school).

i’ve got the same problem, i think i am going with hon calc. but that is only because the cool teacher at my school who teaches stat is leaving and a mean teacher is taking his spot.

Honors Calc would probably be Calc I, which is similar to AB, but slightly less demanding homework load and not much focus on studying for the AP Exam (which I think is a plus). The overwhelming majority of college freshman take a math class which is in the calculus sequence. Stats is not part of that sequence, so you wouldn’t be advancing at all. Plus, you may forget some of your precalc once you get to college. You might as well build on your knowledge and become a more competitive applicant.

Definitely Calculus

at my school 10th graders usually take Trg/Anlt H
its a ridiculously hard class and is the highest math lane
its not weighted so im like “***”
