If you have taken AP sciences and regular math courses, and you end up taking AP statistics instead of and AP calculus course your senior year, will this pretty much be a fatal blow to an MIT app?

It's not a fatal blow -- I knew a couple of kids who came to MIT without having taken calculus, although not many -- but 18.01 (single-variable calc) at MIT, which is required for graduation, will be difficult to get through without ever having seen calculus before.

People do come in without calculus. Usually that's because they came from schools that didn't offer it. But statistics is a useful thing, and I don't think that not having taken calculus will be a fatal blow - 18.01 moves quickly, but starts at the beginning.
