calculus over the summer and calculus bc next year?

Im currently a junior and in pre-ap pre calculus. I really want to take calculus bc next year but I havint taken ab yet. Does anyone know where I can take calculus ab (or an equivalent of) over the summer online? I already checked with my local community college but they only offer a 2nd year calculus course over the summer. =(

Thanks.

can't you just take bc instead of ab at school? bc covers ab too...

At our HS, kids take either AB or BC, not AB then BC.

My boys both went from pre-AP calc to BC Calc. I think the first semester of BC covers the AB coursework, and the second semester covers the rest - BC covers AB in one semester instead of an entire year.

So I can just go straight from precal to bc? Because my precal teacher recommended me to ab w/o asking if I wanted to take ab or bc so it appeared as if though I didnt have a choice.

I don't understand why your teacher did that unless you are struggling in precal. Talk to him/her about changing it to BC.

no actually, it may be the way the school works. At my school we take AB Calc before BC calc. It's not necessarily bad and doesn't show that you're struggling with precalc perse. It's just how different schools work. But the thing is, at our school, we go straight from like trig to calc AB (which has like a week of precalc)...so we never really take pre calculus. It's much easier that way. So next year, senior year, ill be taking BC calc which the AP test actually gives you a subscore of AB calc. Therefore i will technically have 2 chances to get a 5 on the AB calc.

Check your community college. In Dallas (if you are here) there are several openings for the online Calculus 1 class. Okay, I just read your post. XD You should see if you could register as an out of state and take the online course here in Dallas (google DCCCD). If you want a phone number, send me a PM.

Also, there are several universities and such that give online classes. Prices ranging from 150 to 1000. Just google it. I only found 3 good ones. Check out Netmath.

Or if you are diligent you can teach yourself with work books and open universities (google it).

I wouldn't bank on "just jump from pre calc to BC". I understand BC includes another semester worth of information. Maybe your school has it like Calculus .5 and Calculus 1.

Thank you all for replies, very helpful! =)

Hey i have a question that is quite similar to this one
I have completed Pre-Calculus and am planning to take AP Calc AB next year.
Is it possible to take AP Calculus BC the summer after that? Where can it be offered?
