i was wondering how hard the calculus placement test is and what i should study

Its basically algebra 2... basic stuff lots of exponent stuff. Like simplifying...I passed it, it doesn't have any calc in it.

does it contain a lot of trig

very basic stuff like finding angles.

Are there any restrictions on the types of calculators we can use?
For example can for use a Ti-89 for the test?

i think any type of calculators are fine. i used a ti-89 for the chem test.

Ah, Sweet thanks for the info.

what's the minimum score you can get and still place into calculus (math 2A)?

its probably like a C- which is like 70ish percent. My friend got 50's, she didn't pass, I got like 70's, i got it.

is the lowest class you can be placed into from this test 1a (precal)? i don't remember most of the precal stuff i learned over a year ago, so idk if i should bother aiming to get into 2a..

how long is the test?

one hour but you can leave if you finish early

if i took calculus through cal state fullerton do i need to take the calculus placement test cus for my major (bio) it says that i have to

Is the class you took UC transferable?

yeah i'm pretty sure. i should probably check that

These are the satisfactory levels for the calc test..

Topics Satisfactory Level
Exponents and Radicals 75%
Rational Expressions 80%
Linear Equations and Inequalities 70%
Functions 60%
Polynomials and Polynomial Functions 75%
Logarithms and Exponential Functions 75%
Trigonometry 60%
Geometric Applications 66%

i think you need about 70%-ish to be placed in 2A. i got 68% and it was a marginal pass so i can take 2A or 1B.

how many questions? and when will you know the result?

There are 40 questions and you have 60 minutes. The results are posted online at testingcenter.uci.edu about an hour after the test.

last year i took the calculus placement test also. My friend found this practice online test which really helped me. it is EXACTLY LIKE THE PLACEMENT TEST with only the numbers being different.

MDTP Order Form

just practice with the online test and you will pass the placement test :D
