Is is smarter to take calc 1 at a community college and get it over with so you dont have to take calc in college if your major doesnt require more than calc 1???
If it’s a good community college, then yes. Typically classes are smaller and it’s easier to get individual help. It’s a good idea to make use of the free tutoring center no matter where the student is taking the class if one is available.
To me that would be double paying. I would not.
@highschoolxconfusedalotlol1 Are you still in high school & considering doing this through dual enrollment or already in college?
My son chose to take lots of the engineering first year classes at our community college (which has a good program) as a dual enrolled student because 1) they weren’t offered in his high school 2) they looked good when applying to State 3) they were free 4) they allowed him to take Calculus 2, College Physics 2, and Linear Algebra in a smaller class setting than NCSU (he is also doing English 1 online too), hopefully if he gets accepted, he will have 42 credits so he can just take 12 credits each semester instead of 15+ so he will have time to do other school stuff too.
@parentofastudent - That’s what I was wondering about with the OP. My thoughts are that if @highschoolxconfusedalotlol1 is still in high school and planning on dual enrollment courses, then go for it if you feel confident in your ability to handle a college level CC course. I think it would be great for the very reasons that @NeedAVacation posted and it will make your application stronger.
So what did you decide?
