Calculus vs Stats?

Planning to transfer into UC Davis Fall 2020 using the TAG program with a major in Biological Sciences and with the intent to go to medical school. I took one semester of Stats, got an A, currently struggling but hoping to get a B in Calculus, but assist.org says I’ll need two semesters of calculus. I’ve talked to several people about this but it seems like people are very split on the topic. My counselor said since I’m going for pre-med I only need one semester of stats and one of calc, especially since I’m struggling as is and I don’t want to bring down my GPA with an unnecessary semester of calc. One of my friends currently in medical school said the same thing that I only need one semester of each. However some family members are saying to just follow what assist.org says. Does anyone have more knowledge on this topic?

While one semester of calculus and one semester of statistics (suitable for science majors) may be sufficient for pre-med at many medical schools, the major requirements for the school you want to transfer to may require more than that. So you need to fulfill whatever requirement is the greater one.

Below are the TAG requirements for UCD as a Biological Science transfer:

Complete the following courses and maintain a 2.50 GPA in each of the following three series:
Mathematics 17A/B/C OR Mathematics 21A/B
Chemistry 2A/B/C
Biological Sciences 2A/B/C

So either 3 quarters (1 year) of Calculus for Biology majors
Or 2 quarters of Engineering Calculus.

If you want to TAG to UCD, you will need to take 2 semesters of Calculus at your CC.
