Calhoun Honors 2023

Didn’t see a discussion for this year’s notifications/decisions on CC, thought I would start it. Looks like last yr it was posted after 5pm on 2/15 which is just around the bend. Wonder if the merit awards notifications will be revealed concurrently? Good luck!

Merit aid is posted in iroar now for my daughter and many others. I think they posted it last night. Maybe not for all yet?? My daughter received her acceptance in November. So maybe iroar accounts are updated in accordance with the acceptance waves. Also, the Net Price Calculator that someone posted on the 2023 discussion page in the last day or two was accurate for us, so you can check that and know with reasonable confidence that’s what $$ you’re getting. Good luck!!

@Screenname409, Honors College decisions and merit aid are in no way related, so if they happen to be released close to each other it’s merely a coincidence.

thanks, we did find merit award separately after enrolling on iroar. It lined up with new NPC numbers and SAT thresholds (1490= $10K) DD’s OOS HS does not rank, but I think Clemson looks at the school profile of data and transcript to get a picture of HS academic performance amongst HS peers (so lack of ranking did not hurt her merit). so just waiting for Calhoun decision.

We are also eagerly awaiting Calhoun decision. DD is OOS with 1560 SAT, 4.0 unweighted GPA and the typical high-achiever mix of rigorous schedule and solid extracurriculars. She has the $20,000 merit award in iRoar but we are hoping for some extra departmental scholarship (engineering). No official class rank in her large public high school with senior class of 997, so that was not a problem. We also hope to hear something from Lyceum as that was a big factor in applying to Clemson for her.

@KWSoCal has Lyceum contacted you for an interview? Your daughters stats are very similar to my son’s and he is interested in Lyceum as well.

No interview or any contact yet from Lyceum. Fingers crossed!

@catmomof3 @KWSoCal The Lyceum selection tends to be a longer process lasting further into the spring, FYI.

Yes @Baxter126 I have read that Lyceum is more of a staggered process. I think there’s a lot of overlap among early applicants to Calhoun, merit aid, and Lyceum, so this forum seemed like an appropriate place to share information. Looks like we have about another week to go for Calhoun.

If you are an OOS student and received the $20,000 merit award, is it likely that you will be admitted to the honors college?

@aa9111 Not necessarily. The honors college weighs the essays and resume significantly. It’s not just about scores and GPA.

Good luck everyone!

Anyone know what time the decisions will be released?

I thought I saw somewhere on an earlier thread that it usually t until after 5:00 pm…

anyone got anything yet?

just kidding, it just came out, link is in clemson portal

Will they send an email? Or do you have to be proactive and search for it in the portal?

Disregard… The email with the link just showed up a few seconds ago for us. Of course I don’t have the login information with me so can’t check it until later tonight. Good luck to everyone.

DD (stats in prior post above) accepted to Calhoun. Yay!

Daughter was accepted to the Honors College (Nursing major). I know they have a more holistic review than admissions. Her SAT was only 1410, ranked second, but I think her essays were strong and she has a solid resume.
