Calhoun Honors **ADMISSION RESULTS**

I figured that since Honors College results will be released by Feb 15 for Priority Applicants, I would create a thread for fellow applicants to report on. Post here when you find out, and good luck to everyone!

DS just received the Calhoun Honors College email that his decision was ready at 5:40 PM.

I was accepted about an hour ago.

My daughter was accepted!!

I was accepted too! Congrats!! @cisobelm @FLMomof3

Where do you look to see your honors acceptance?

They should have sent you an email with a link to a sign-on. You enter the same user id and password. that you did when you submitted the Honors College application. Once you are in there, an option says “view your decision letter”.

accepted! 1410 SAT, 94.1 GPA, 8 APS, amazing recs and essays

my d just got her email that she was accepted she is beyond thrilled-congrats everyone

I was accepted. Truly a miracle. From everything that I have seen ,they must have put a lot of emphasis on recommendations, extracurriculars, and essays. My stats were not that impressive at all. But all three of those must have been quite stellar!

Congrats to everyone that got good news. Can’t wait to get to know you guys next year.

My DD accepted today!!! Very excited!!

Denied- blown away honestly- NMF - 35 ACT/ 1520 SAT- 9AP’s, 5.1 GPA & Girl Scout Gold Award along with 500+ community service hours.

Got my acceptance email at 4:40 yesterday!! Very excited!!

@thatpreppygirl I heard that the recommendations and the essays were very important too. It was important to them that you answered the questions they asked specifically and satisfactorily.

Did everyone get your regular acceptance from Clemson before you heard from the Calhoun Honors College?

Accepted. 1450 SAT/32 ACT 4.43 GPA, amazing recs and essays

Our DS2021 saw yesterday that he was accepted to honors! ACT 35, top 2%, and everything else that makes a resume stand out. We are so excited for him!

@SFLmom Could class rank have been a factor? Our current Tiger was denied from honors a couple of years ago with a 33 ACT, lots of leadership, Eagle Scout, community service etc. His class rank was around top 10% though (which is low for engineering honors) He chose Clemson in spite of not getting into honors and has loved being a Tiger!

We don’t rank- D attends a very competitive private high school in S. Florida- graduating class is about 360- 50 NMSF, 38 Commended. I was told to appeal and have guidance explain the rigor of the school.
Not so sure anymore- lots of other very good schools have offered D better $$ and direct admit to honors. This just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It’s just sad- she really liked Clemson & a certain major they had.
I suppose we shall see @PokeyJoe - thanks. How does your current Tiger like Clemson without honors?

@runwith4 I heard back in December for regular acceptance so yes. But most didn’t hear until now.

@SFLmom Our school does not rank as well but, they do provide a profile. That profile has consistently been used to estimate a rank, in my experience.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Clemson and our son’s experience. It was the campus visit that ultimately made the difference. We are OOS but, DS integrated completely. He joined Central Spirit among other clubs and has never missed having the honors activity, even though his freshman roommate was in the honors program.

Socially, Clemson is a giant friendly family. Strangers have introduced themselves to us as Clemson grads and I have even been hugged randomly at the sight of my Clemson Mom t-shirt.

Our finest praise though is for the Career Center. DS has been through multiple interviews and met many representatives as a result of the career fairs. Although, his internship this summer did not come from a campus connection, Clemson’s reputation was explicitly mentioned as a factor for DS getting his position. It’s a household name company and we couldn’t be more proud! (Please forgive my gush. He just found out recently.) All of this was done without the honors boost.

If you are on the fence, my advice is to not let acceptance to the honors program determine your decision. The Clemson family has more than made up for it, IMO.
