Is it necessary to attach a resume and additional documents to your Calhoun Honors College Application? I’m a bit overwhelmed seeing there are so many places to upload additional documents and frankly I’m at a loss as to what would be beneficial to attach? Does not attaching anything lessen your chances of getting in?
When my son and I met with the Honors College in May 2015, the advisor made it very clear that every person attempting to be admitted has high scores, high GPAs. She emphasized the importance of making yourself stand out. That being said, I’d include as much info as I could to show how I was different than the other applicants.
@carolinamom2boys we are wondering about the uploads too. We have one more upload potentially but feel like anything that might be uploaded would have already been listed/described on the resume. Did the presentation you attended indicate that uploads should be confirmatory documents to things listed on the resume? For example, if my DD listed her Girl Scout Gold Award and then uploaded the project does she also need to upload the letter that confirms she received the Gold Award? Or if she notes she was ranked at a certain level for her sport, does she also need to provide the confirmatory documentation? We have all of those items, but we were not sure whether it would seem odd to upload them.
We attempted to upload DS16 eagle project book and it was too large . I would upload the letter. Could hurt to upland the additional docs if it will fit.
@carolinamom2boys Thanks. for your son’s eagle project book you could try the compress feature in adobe pdf if you haven’t already tried that. We use that compression setting sometimes to send huge documents through work email. I think it is under the advanced tools tab on adobe pdf
@carolinamom2boys I just double checked - to reduce the file size on a PDF, go to the “document” tab then you should see a ‘reduce file size’ choice. Hope it helps!
Thx
Hello, I just finished my honors app.
For my additional uploads I uploaded a word document containing photos of the awards I had mentioned in the award section. Using a word document I included all awards in one document.
I think it is very important that students set themselves apart when applying; however, I think that will mostly come from the essays.
If it means anything, the honors college liked my Instagram photo of my general acceptance December first. I had uploaded my acceptance photo the day before thanksigiving.
So maybe they are doing some research beyond the basic applications!
Goodluck to the OP, hope to see you in the fall!
Good luck @BiGJake111
The additional uploads offered within the Clemson Honors application are a direct response to applicant demand. The Honors College review committee prefers that information submitted with the Honors application be clear and concise. Quality over quantity is definitely appreciated.
