DS got an email this morning that he was admitted to Calhoun! Anyone else out there?
@S18D20mom if you don’t mind sharing sons stats. Also do you think this early admit might be NSP invite?
I hope for your son that is the case.
@burghdad ACT 34, SAT 1550, 4.0, rank 4/455, AP Scholar, average EC, varsity lacrosse 3 years, 250 hrs volunteer hours with lots of those serving at riak youth…weaknesses are leadership positions at school and essays were probably average. Unfortunately I don’t think it’s an indication of NSP. He did apply to Clemson early.
@S18D20mom My OOS daughter very similar situation as your son. ACT 35, 4.0UW, 4.46W, rank top 5%, 2 years varsity softball, musical theater 4 years, okay other EC but same not much leadership positions. Don’t know about the essays I have never been allowed to read them.
I’m hoping she gets into Calhoun as I think that is the clincher for her deciding to go to Clemson.
@burghdad I would think she would get accepted to Calhoun. Hope you find out soon.
@S18D20mom can you provide more information? We called the honors college today inquiring regarding timing of acceptances. They were very straightforward in saying all decisions are released at the same time and that all notifications will come via postal mail. We mentioned that someone indicated they were accepted via email and the woman on the phone stated that all decisions are mailed. I’m so confused. Can you copy and paste your email?
Thank you!
@Annie4321 and @burghdad I just reread the email and it looks like I misunderstood it. Bad news is DS has not been accepted to Calhoun yet. Good news is that they are all still in the running. I guess I read the subject line that said “Calhoun Honors College” and the first line “Congratulations on your acceptance!” and thought they were referring to the honors college. Upon re-reading it now, it is clear that they are just informing him about it. It was confusing because he had already applied and I thought the deadline was ling past, so very weird for them to send that on Jan 23rd. I apologize for any stress that caused. The message stated:
Calhoun Honors College
Congratulations on your acceptance! For more information about the Honors College and their admissions process, please contact them by calling 864-656-4762.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions!
Thanks!

@S18D20mom man, I would have made the same mistake!!!
@S18D20mom wow that is very confusing. Hopefully we will all have good news in a couple weeks
I believe they said the honors college decision would come out on 2/15. I read that if you are accepted as a Priority Applicant (which I think is early decision) then you had to apply for the honors college by 12/8/17 however non-priority applicants have until 3/1/18 to apply.
My son was admitted right before Christmas, but opted not to fill out Calhoun Honors by the first deadline. He would now like to fill it out by March 1. I thought I spoke with the Calhoun Honors office and they said that the March 1 deadline was for anyone. @Chris1229 seems to say otherwise…Does anyone know. Also, does anyone know how the competition is for the March 1 deadline spots…are there very few left or is it the same chance as the regular Calhoun deadline. @Baxter126 and @carolinamom2boys - you might know this?
@TexasStudent2018 The way that I understand what’s on the website that candidates will be considered as long as they submit by 3/1 and all of their materials are received by 3/15. I do believe that most applicants that are accepted are from the priority group , but I don’t know specifically how many more . When my son applied two years ago, it was also possible to apply as a freshman , so that may also be an option. Wish I could help more. My son ended up attending another schools .
@carolinamom2boys Thanks!
@TexasStudent2018 There is no early decision at Clemson. carolinamom2boys is correct. There is deadline of December 1 for “priority consideration” to the University (and for scholarship consideration), but the majority of those applicants haven’t heard yet. Those acceptances go out around February 15th. The main application is open until May 1st.
There is a deadline of December 8th for priority consideration to the Honors College of December 8th. Anyone can still apply to the Honors College until March 1. Here is what the Honors College website states:
“Although we encourage all students to meet the priority deadline, the deadline for application to the Calhoun Honors College for Fall 2017 freshman admission is March 1, 2018, with all supporting materials due by March 15, 2018. Students who apply to the Honors College after March 1, 2018, or whose supporting materials are submitted after March 15, 2018 may be considered for admission to the Honors College on a space available basis. However, we cannot guarantee that such applications will receive consideration.”
Looks like it admission notices will happen soon as the Calhoun Honors college website has a link for 2018 newly admitted students. https://www.clemson.edu/cuhonors/NewAdmits.html
Good luck to all.
Thank you for sharing. Is anyone able to access the form on that site?^ @burghdad
It allowed me to access the “click here to access the form” but it just took me to my son’s apply web page, where it shows the Clemson and Calhoun honors applications submitted but by the Calhoun honors it says now-- Calhoun honors new app ( i don’t remember it saying that before but not sure). When I click the view details it has a confirmed date of 8:11 am Jan 29, 2018. I know that is new but not sure if that means he was accepted. There isn’t a link to a new form with questions yet. Does it link anyone else to their apply web site?
@WDWFan I just did exactly what you said and my son’s states Confirmed: 08:47 AM, January 29, 2018 (PST).I wonder if that means they were accepted that date?
@burghdad can you check yours?
It could be…my son’s says that also. But my husband works at a college and he said that in their system, that just means a decision was uploaded to be released. No indication of what the decision would be.
