Okay, this thread probably exists already and everyones only yell, but...

Weather.
I'm from LA and I'm sure that the rest of my LA County/Orange County California kids are gonna have trouble adjusting.
I mean, surfing can't be to popular. I have rarely seen snow and it's usually fake. So how in the word am I supposed to have the right closes for Cornell. It was like 112 degrees a couple summers ago, and i have to get used to what now/

Anyone wanna give some advice? Cause I have no heavy jackets, and maybe one thermal I bought in new jersey.
Can anyone give me like the weather break down by month? How ofter is it under 60 degrees which is pretty cold for me) Like how long it snows, when it doesn't and if i have to trade a surf board for a skateboard... which probably wouldn't work in snow either! =P

This year the snow started pretty late. You should definitely get a warm hoodie/sweater (i recommend hoodie with a large hood), and a nice thick winter jacket like North Face, Columbia, etc. I usually wear jeans and boots (I wear Timberlands, but any kind of boot is fine) when it's snowing/cold out and I'm fine, but then again I'm from NYC. You can buy all this stuff at Ithaca Mall before it gets cold. It stays warm in Ithaca for a few months so you don't have to worry immediately.

Average highs/lows degrees Fahrenheit by month:

January - 31 / 14
February - 33 / 14
March - 42 / 22
April - 55 / 33
May - 67 / 43
June - 76 / 53
July - 80 / 57
August - 79 / 56
September - 71 / 48
October - 59 / 37
November - 47 / 31
December - 36 / 20

A heavy coat and a sweatshirt should get you through, though you might want heavier clothing for those occasional sub-zeros. Think winter jacket, I have a North Face and it's great.

People I know from California are doing fine, if that's what you're wondering.

I am from LA too, and i went to CT (i know ct is not Ithaca, but i assume the weather is the same in most regions of the northeast) and 30 degree weather to me felt like 50 degrees in cali (with a warm sweater), its really NOT THAT BAD if you bring a really warm sweater. Also, you can buy some billabong jackets online. I have the alaska jacket and it worked out fine while it was 28-31 in connecticut. I always thought northeastern weather was going to be deadly, the weather is not as shocking as the people! trust me lol the diversity you see in LA/cali doesnt compare; another thing i found shocking of the northeast was how snow was mountained on sidewalks; there were hardly any sidewalks.... i dont know if its like that in ithaca.
