California and the New SBAC Testing

Hello Everyone,

I’m a junior currently taking the SBAC tests. I am already exempt from remedial course due to my scores on the SAT and ACT (check my other posts for the scores); however, I feel I am doing poorly on the SBAC even though I’m pretty good at most tests (again, check my scores). I would like to get into the honors colleges at SDSU or Sonoma State as safeties. Will poor scores on the SBAC affect that? Or is the SBAC only used to exempt students from remedial courses, and since I’m already exempt, would it not matter? Does admissions even look at the SBAC? If they do and my scores are bad, will they just assume it was a fluke or will I be penalized for it?

I realize I’m being a bit paranoid, but these are my safeties, and I want to maintain their security.

All CSUs except CP SLO use a simple formula to rank applicants. It uses only your college prep gpa from grades 10 and 11 and your SAT or ACT. That’s it…

Honors programs are typically a supplemental application but, the criteria are usually pretty transparent. Last I looked, Sonoma didn’t offer one - but, things change.
